Current Mixtape:

Theme No. 1 – Balmorhea
After Love – Daniel Dixon
Djorolen – Bela Fleck
San Solomon – Balmorhea
Waiting – City & Colour

I’ve been in a quiet, still mood lately. Very thoughtfilled.

And for your enjoyment, a post about teaching Modern on Monday night. I didn’t know she (Lauren, the director) had posted anything about it! Definitely a pleasant surprise.. took bits and pieces of what I know to help teach weight (for lifts in upcoming pieces), balance and basic knowledge of modern. Missed it a lot.

My sister, Caitlin, is my partner in the video — she came to assist me. I think I was lifted (and lifted!) every girl in the class. So fun, a bit sore? đŸ˜‰

What you’ll see in the video is a bit of what Bill Wade has taught in the past, director of Inlet Dance out of Cleveland, OH. It doesn’t look that difficult, but it is. You have to remain completely focused on the other dancer, not on yourself. It’s an active form of being completely selfless and trusting. Always in equal weight — two coming together in one movement, improv, without any communication other than listening to the body and shifting weight changes.
